| More accolades for Queensland mine manager |
Cement Australia’s East End Mine Manager Sandra Collins has received more accolades for her services to the mining industry.
Ms Collins’ pioneering 30-year career in the sector has been recognised with the Outstanding Contribution to Mining Award in the 6th annual Australian Mining Prospect Awards.
She also shared the Mine Manager of the Year Award with Rio Tinto Northparkes’ Dr Craig Stegman.
The awards follow her win in the Queensland Resources Council’s (QRC) Resources Awards for Women presented in March.
‘Sandra is a very worthy winner of these latest awards, and I pay tribute to the passion and professionalism she’s shown in her long and successful career,’ said QRC Chief Executive Michael Roche.
‘She has in particular paved the way for women in the industry and has done much to break down barriers to women enjoying rewarding careers in the resources sector.
‘Sandra continues to be a wonderful ambassador and role model for the industry and I urge all women working in the resources sector to consider becoming ambassadors through the Resources Awards for Women.’
Entries are now open for the 2010 Resources Awards for Women and forms can be downloaded from the QRC website .
